Pre-Conference Workshop: Hackathon Mastery: Designing Event Experiences That Reveal Breakthrough Ideas

  • Jamie Murdock, VP Sales at Experient
  • Donna Kastner, Founder at Retirepreneur

Back by popular demand! This one-of-a-kind experience combines behind-the-scenes hackathon design strategies through an actual hands-on hackathon. Kicking off with an interactive discovery session and cocktail reception Saturday at 5 p.m. – and ending with a fun hackathon competition Sunday afternoon, participants will come away with checklists and tips to help them design hackathons that attendees rave about and that solve problems that matter to your members, participants and your organization. Teams will examine hackathon case studies, explore what worked, what didn’t, and lessons learned. Then they’ll compete to hack into a hot industry issue and pitch their solution for a panel of judges who will review and score the pitches. One team will be crowned the PCMA hacking champs, having developed a breakthrough idea to further our industry. A prize of $200 will be awarded to each member of the winning team. Those who sign up will select the topic that most appeals to them from the list of three, then the topic with the most votes will be ‘hacked’.

Topic options to vote on:

  1. Reinventing Sponsorship
  2. Boosting Year Round Engagement
  3. Marketing & Attendance/Revenue Growth
  4. Experience/Learning Design
