About

George W. Bush served as 43rd President of the United States of America from 2001 to 2009.  As Commander in Chief, President Bush worked to expand freedom, opportunity, and security at home and abroad.  His Administration reformed America’s education system, restored robust private-sector economic growth and job creation, protected our environment, and pursued a comprehensive strategy to keep America safe after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

After the Presidency, President Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush founded the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas, a nonpartisan organization advancing the timeless values of freedom, opportunity, accountability, and compassion.  The Bush Center comprises the George W. Bush Presidential Library, which is operated by the National Archives and Records Administration, as well as the George W. Bush Presidential Museum and the George W. Bush Institute, a nonpartisan public policy and leadership development center.

President Bush is the author of four bestselling books. He and Laura are the parents of twin daughters: Barbara, married to Craig Coyne, and Jenna, married to Henry Hager.  The Bushes also are the proud grandparents of Margaret Laura “Mila”, Poppy Louise, Henry Harold “Hal” Hager, and Cora Georgia and Edward Finn Coyne.

Barbara Pierce Bush is the NBA’s Senior Vice President of Social Impact and Inclusion, where she works with NBA offices around the world on community strategies focused on health equity, sustainability, civic engagement, and inclusion. Before joining the NBA, she was Executive-in-Residence at Schmidt Futures, where she led its International Strategy Forum.

She co-founded Global Health Corps, an organization that places young leaders on the front lines of health equity and served as its CEO for the first nine years. Since 2009, Global Health Corps has sent thousands of young leaders to work across East Africa, Southern Africa, and the United States.

Her work has earned her a spot on Glamour’s Women of the Year, Newsweek’s Women of Impact, and Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business. Barbara holds a Master of Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School and a BA from Yale. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Craig, and their two children.
